Fat Pizza is the movie spawned from the Aussie TV show Pizza. It follows a group of Lebanese-Australian pizza takeaway workers and their zany, sometimes surrealist adventures. There is no plot to speak of but instead a series of comedic scenarios.

I first discovered the TV series when I was visiting Australia in 2003. I bought the DVD of the movie when I returned to the UK and wasn’t disappointed.
Pizza isn’t for everyone. But if you have a juvenile (in a good way) sense of humour and love gags that push boundaries, then you’ll love this film.

And when I say that the jokes in this movie are extreme, I mean EXTREME. Fat Pizza was considered controversial in 2003 and so think about how it would be perceived today. It is deliciously un-PC.
On its release, some critics argued that the characters represented the worst racial stereotypes imaginable about certain minorities in Oz whilst others thought that the characters were welcome as at least members of other nationalities were being represented.

Fat Pizza also makes the screen debut of Rebel Wilson. But don’t blame the movie for that.
