From IMDB- ‘A young woman works with a mercenary to search for her sister in the jungles of New Guinea, where they find her living with a cult in an area inhabited by cannibals.’

Yep, as you can guess, it’s another jungle-based cannibal movie.
The sequences of this film that take place in the New York of the day and involve a tribesman blowing poisoned darts at passers-by are great. But then, inevitably, we venture to other, more tropical climbs and the genre conventions of these movies kick in. You know what they are (as you can tell, I’m writing this through gritted teeth as I hate most of these films).

This time around Umberto Lenzi throws in a Jim Jones-style cult that is interesting for about a millisecond.
This is very average fare with gore that looks very fake (basically offal and limbs from shop mannequins covered with bright red paint).

If only this had stuck to the crime-ridden streets of New York in 1980.
Eaten Alive is a great cure for insomnia. Or a good inducement to get a lobotomy.
