Dr Frankenstein and his assistant are in the process of reanimating their creation when they are both killed by a rival who takes the creature to his lair. The doctor’s daughter reanimates her father long enough to learn that this is the work of Cagliostro and where he has taken the creation. She heads out to his lair.

Jesus Franco’s adaptation of the Frankenstein story is quite the head-trip. It involves a silver Frankenstein’s monster, a woman/bird hybrid, a scene involving a man and woman being whipped above spikes in which no holds (lashes) are pulled (was this the scene that ensured it’s Video Nasty status?) and plenty of nudity.

It also features the most demented score I’ve think I’ve ever heard which is perfect for the surreal events depicted on the screen.

I was also surprised at how beautiful this film is, the gorgeous colour pallet and how well framed it is.

After his Nunsploitation borefests, this was a pleasant surprise.
