You know the drill- women in prison who are badly treated and then plan to overthrow their captors.

This is pretty generic stuff- nudity, humiliation, cat fights, degradation…

The overall tone is pretty grim but I’m yet to see a Women In Prison film that has an optimistic outlook on life.

This film was denied a BBFC certificate for cinema release and then, of course, placed on the Section 3 Video Nasties list. I can’t really see why. I’ve seen much more gratuitous films of this kind.

Hell Prison was later re-edited with scenes from another film (Hotel Paradise) and released under a new title (Savage Paradise). The ultimate way of saying the original films are sub-par and no good in their own right. At least the later edited film could boast scenes featuring Linda Blair.

Not bad, but no House of Whipcord.
