Four criminals kill a jeweller and his family. They then kidnap a senator’s granddaughter and her boyfriend. This is a bad mistake though as the captives fight back in grisly fashion.
Scream For Vengeance is very difficult to track down. I ended up having to watch a copy that had been dubbed into French. I then relied on my (very) rusty GCSE French and a synopsis written in English. Thankfully this film isn’t full of plot intricacies and nuance.

I throughly enjoyed the film. It’s low budget, yes, but this gave proceedings a raw and documentary style feel. There are obvious comparisons with Last House on the Left to be made. There are scenes so raw here that I could clearly see why the BBFC got their knickers in a twist. The scenes of the s*xual assaults were harrowing and the later scenes of payback were very grisly.

I also loved the odd directorial flourish that showed that a low budget couldn’t dampen the filmmakers enthusiasm. An example is the camera in the washing machine shot that takes place in a launderette.
I also loved the use of the same library music found in Prisoner Cell Block H.

Scream For Vengeance deserves a decent release on Blu Ray. And in English if possible.
