Amityville Reviewed- Day 12- Amityville Death House (2015)

From IMDB- ‘A young woman and her friends returning from helping with hurricane relief efforts in Florida stop in the town of Amityville to check in on her sickly grandmother. There they find all is not well as an ancient witch’s spirit permeates the whole place. This evil curse threatens to destroy the descendants of the townsfolk who condemned the witch to death over 300 years ago.’

Sam Raimi should sue these filmmakers as they’ve stolen loads of his ideas from The Evil Dead for this ‘film’ (aka glorified camcorder extravaganza). There’s even a Book of the Dead.

I love any film that has highlights from its finale as a pre-credits sequence. You really don’t need to watch any more than this sequence.

There’s one memorable scene with some great body horror, where one of the characters turns into a giant spider, but that’s it.

Eric Roberts gets star billing but he only does a little voice-over work to earn this.

Do you remember when I said that the Amityville franchise entries post Part 3 were surprisingly good? Scrub that. This is a micro-budget turkey. Don’t waste your time.
