The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reviewed- Day 3- Leatherface- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 (1990)

I remember having a poster of Leatherface which came free with an issue of Gorezone. I asked my teacher if I could put it on my school common room wall which got a muted reaction to say the least.

Here, a couple who are travelling through Texas take a wrong turn and…you can guess the rest.

I was expecting this to be terrible but it really isn’t that bad. We get a nice credit scroll and voiceover at the start just like the original letting us know what has happened since to key characters (no, I’m not going to spoil anything).

We also get Ken Foree, Viggo Mortensen and new characters who, thankfully, aren’t too irritating.

The scares are well done, there’s a pretty good sense of suspense and there’s plenty of scares for your most ardent horror fan.

I kept thinking that if I had rented this in 1990, I would have enjoyed it. Except that would never have happened as when it was presented to the BBFC for cinema release, it was banned outright. I have to say I’m glad this happened. I’m thankful I got to see the original first. As entertaining as Part 3 is, it’s nothing compared to the masterpiece first film. I wouldn’t have wanted to see Part 3 first.

Gunnar Hansen was slated to play the lead character but they would only have paid him scale so he refused. And he was right to as he was worth more than that.

Look out for the ‘Lady in the Lake’ trailer for this film. It’s very funny.

This is not too shabby.
