Fifty years after the events of the first film, we find a group of young people arriving in a near-deserted Texas town, looking to buy properties to renovate and transform the town into something more vibrant. When they force an old woman out of her home, she dies from the trauma. But they pay for this royally as her lodger in the house is none other than Leatherface (!)

This Netflix franchise entry looks really great with inspired framing and gorgeous photography.
But, other than that, it’s business as usual. By that, I mean terrible acting, awful dialogue, characters you wouldn’t wanna be trapped in a lift with, and gore galore instead of genuine terror.

But the worst aspect of this film is that the makers have thought they could do a Halloween 2018 with the franchise in that they bring back Sally Hardesty and she does battle with ol’ skin face. And it’s just as lame as its inspiration.

As I’ve said before, please just watch the original. In fact, instead of making these truly terrible sequels they could have restored the original and released it instead for a fraction of the budget. I saw TCM a couple of years ago at a plush new cinema on a huge screen and in 7.1 and it rocked!
