Universal Monsters Reviewed- Day 20- The Mummy’s Tomb (1942)

This film takes place 30 years after the events of The Mummy’s Hand. A high priest travels to America with the mummy to react revenge on what happened before.

There’s much to love about The Mummy’s Tomb whether it’s the moody black and white photography in which shadows are brilliantly used (more proto-Goth) or the fact that it gallops along at a lightning pace.

This is an excellent sequel and may even be better than the original.

A special mention to Lon Chaney who, yet again, is excellent. He’s rapidly becoming one of my favourite actors.

The Mummy himself is very scary with the make-up aging brilliantly. I’d hate to cross paths with him at midnight at Acton Town tube station.
