A remake of the 1987 film.
Sometimes remakes are so bad that it’s almost like they were made to make the original film seem even more brilliant. This is the case with The Stepfather. This retread is a brilliant example of how to make a film that has no suspense, no characters the audience actually cares about and is an utter waste of time from start to finish.

I just kept thinking of Simon Cowell’s most cutting criticism of one of the contestants on The X Factor- ‘that was distinctly average’. The same applies to this remake.
Please don’t waste your time. Stick with the original and marvel at Terry O’Quinn’s demented performance and the general nasty tone that the film effortlessly generated.
