The evil Dr Watt is kidnapping young women with the assistance of his Frankensteinesque henchmen and is turning them into shop mannequins. Bumbling detective Sidney Bung (!) is on the case though.

Whereas Carry On Cowboy parodies the Western genre, this entry takes aim at horror, specifically the Hammer horror films with Bung parodying Sherlock Holmes.

The word iconic is used way too much these days, but it certainly applies here. If you asked the average person to name a Carry On film, I’m sure Screaming would be one of the most popular. The British Film Institute, no less, named it as one of the best of the series.

The gags are on point, the photography is amazing (check out the colour palette), and the casting is spot on. This is Fenella Fielding’s second role in the series and she is amazing! She actually looks like the female equivalent of Kenneth Williams. I actually got to know Ms Fielding in real life and she is as much of a star in real life as she is on screen. A class act.

Carry On Screaming, like Carry On Cleo also provides us with one-liners which have entered the common consciousness with ‘Frying tonight!’ being much quoted.

This is one of my favourite Carry Ons. A fantastic film.
