‘When a nuclear experiment goes awry, it renders an innocent bystander, Nick, invisible. However, he is pursued by a tyrannical CIA official and must try to lead a normal life with his new predicament.’

Great concept, great cast, great special effects but a leading man who I can’t tolerate except in the National Lampoon’s Vacation movies.

Chevy Chase tries to do serious here. It doesn’t work. It also doesn’t help that his character is a vile narcissist either. What could have been with a different leading actor!

Granted, this isn’t an absolute car wreck but it’s nowhere near Carpenter’s usual standard. In fact, he was parachuted in when relations between Ivan Reitman (the original proposed director) and Chase grew frosty.

Memoirs of an Invisible Man is passable and Sam Neill and Daryl Hannah are great but only watch this if it’s turns up on a cable channel when you’re bored.
