I normally hate Westerns except when they involve gore, people eating each other and star none other than Kurt Russell.

Bone Tomahawk is beautifully shot, wittily written and absolutely brutal. S. Craig Zahler has crafted an excellent film.

I love genre crossovers when there’s something fresh injected into the results. There’s enough here to keep the most ardent fans of both genres happy. The final scene is a doozy!

Years before Russell starred in this, he turned down William Friedkin’s Killer Joe. His partner, Goldie Hawn, disapproved of it, as Friedkin reported in his autobiography. So, she disapproved of that film but not a cannibal Western?! OK then…
