Four escapees from a mental facility have escaped. They’re also high on LSD that has been given to them as part of their treatment (!) They start to terrorise the residents (and pets) of a small community, primarily a hotel which houses a choral troupe from a posh all-girls school and their teachers. I had …
When The Swarm was released in 1978, it quickly earned a reputation that no filmmaker or actor associated with a particular film wants. The reviews for the film were abysmal. The Sunday Times went as far as to call the movie 'simply the worst film ever made'. And this moniker has stuck with The Swarm …
Four youngsters go camping. But there’s someone or something bumping people off. As you’ve probably guessed, we’re in slasher territory here. Don’t Go In The Woods earned particular notoriety during the Video Nasties moral panic. Would this film be so horrific and depraved that it could turn viewers into mindless killers?! Of course not. John Carpenter's Escape From L.A. massively polarised both critics and fans alike when it was released in 1996. A very religious policeman (Edward ‘Equalizer’ Woodward) arrives at the Scottish island of Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a child, Rowan Morrison. Whilst he makes enquiries regarding the missing child he witnesses first-hand the pagan lifestyles of the inhabitants which shock him and clash severely with his staunchly Christian and somewhat puritanical beliefs. I …

I had heard such bad things about John Carpenter’s Vampires that I didn’t even see it when it was released theatrically in 1998. In fact, it was only yesterday that I saw it for the very first time. What’s 25 years to see a film though?! Is it a bad movie by Carpenter’s standards or, …
