Count Waldemar Daninsky (Paul Naschy) joins an expedition in the Himalayas to try and shed light on whether the Yeti exists. It is during this that he is bitten by cannibalistic nymphs and because of this, he is turned into a werewolf. Or something.

The Werewolf and the Yeti is a beautiful film to look at. It’s almost as if it was shot in black and white and then colourised afterwards. It reminds me of Mexican lobby cards.

But, the actual film is passable but that’s about it. There’s nudity, cannibalism, vampirism…but it’s all pretty tame. Oh, and nice try passing Spain off as the Himalayas! How this came to be on the Video Nasties list, I’ll never know.

Apparently there are eight, EIGHT other films with the same lead character in them. That’s like discovering that Shogun Assassin in actually made up of scenes from other movies. But whilst I enjoyed watching the individual Lone Wolf and Cub films, I have no desire to delve deeper into this series.

The film was also released as Night of the Howling Beast.
