A gang of soldiers hear about a sanctuary from the living dead. It’s called Plum Island but unfortunately there’s a family feud dividing it. One family wants to exterminate the zombies, the other wants to peacefully live alongside them. What to do…

This was George’s last film before his death.
This is Romero attempting to cross one of his zombie movies with a Western. I hate Westerns but I love zombies especially directed by Romero so there’s more I like about this movie than not.
Great cast (Alan Van Sprang is very easy on the eye too), brilliant gore (even though it’s clearly CGI) and a very novel idea.

And yet it doesn’t quite gel and feels a bit out of sorts. I get the impression this was rushed as it doesn’t feel fully realised. Also, the Western slant starts to grate (I told you I don’t like Westerns).
It’s also a bit off putting that the production company for the film is literally Blank of the Dead Productions. An in-joke that’s just a little bit too insightful…
