Things I liked about this film-

• Superman
• The flashback sequences
• The dark abduction storyline (this should have been explored a lot more)

Things I disliked about this film-

• The one-liners that were either supposed to be sassy, funny or both but utterly failed
• The scenes that were supposed to be poignant but utterly failed
• The worst use of green screen I think I’ve ever seen in some scenes
• The teenage Supergirl who’s all army boots, long-coat, hangover and morning breath. A completely unlikeable character.
• The fight scenes that feel like you’re watching someone playing a shoot-em-up
• The over reliance on CGI aliens (and dog)
• Not a single Blondie song is used on the soundtrack. A t-shirt isn’t enough.

The bottom line- another film that proves Martin Scorsese completely right. There is a glimmer of hope though- maybe we’ll get a 4K box set of the various versions of the 1984 masterpiece because of this film.
