From IMDB- ‘A duo of Edgar Allan Poe adaptations about a greedy wife’s attempt to embezzle her dying husband’s fortune, and a sleazy reporter’s adoption of a strange black cat.’

An anthology film incorporating the directorial talents of not just Romero but also the one and only Dario Argento (the Italian maestro, of course, produced Dawn of the Dead and even prepared his own cut of the film for Italy. Fun fact, this cut was the second highest earning film of the year in Italy that year only being beaten by Star Wars).
Both stories tip the hat to Edgar Allan Poe and are set in Romero’s home turf of Pittsburgh.

Whilst this sounds too good to be true and I can hear the muttering of ‘it’s not as good as it should be’ from the peanut gallery, it’s still very entertaining and far from being a dud.
Whilst people will be quick to state which their favourite segment is, I have to say I enjoyed them both equally.

A great cast (including Adrienne Barbeau, Harvey Keitel and Tom Atkins), great effects and directorial finesse (but it’s Romero and Argento so nothing less is expected), this is excellent fare.

Atmospheric, unsettling and gruesome, Two Evil Eyes further proves why both directors are so highly regarded.
