American scientist Shane Brown, is with his wife on their honeymoon in Paris but seems more intent on locating his former colleague Léo Semenau and his wife Coré, who hold cannibalistic urges.

Apparently this film had a budget of $3.8 million. But it looks like none of these were spent on the film’s opening credits which look like they were created with a 90’s home PC.
These terrible credits also show another huge red flag- this is a movie that Vincent Gallo stars in. Normally this would make me run screaming but as I’m reviewing these examples of shocking cinema, I’m prepared to leave my comfort zone.

How could anyone make such a boring film that features cannibalism?! There are scenes here in which, literally, nothing happens.
Slow, pretentious, self-consciously arty as if director Claire Denis thought that slick style would distract from the lack of substance, engagement or dialogue. Even Beatrice Dalle can’t save this borefest.

And yes, I’m happy to report that Gallo is just as irritating and annoying as ever. He once said in an interview that Gaspar Noe was reprehensible for making Irreversible. At least Noe made a masterpiece rather than this garbage.
