I’ll always have a soft spot for this movie. An obscure horror film made in America in the 70s and set in a drive in. Whats not to like? Could it be the mentally challenged employee there called Germy who could be the killer? Or the local sex pest we see the cops interview? (‘I didn’t …

I first heard of Phantasm when its sequel came out. Barry Norman reviewed it and admitted that he hadn’t even heard of the first film. Neither had I. Fortunately, my sister in law had a friend who had closed down their video business and so gave her a lot of the videos he used to …

Vincent Price’s Dr Phibes avenges the death of his wife by bumping off the culprits with each murder having a biblical connection. Very camp, very funny and very unsettling- this is one of Price’s best just like Witchfinder General and the Poe films he also made with Roger Corman. Check out Phibes’ clockwork band- one …

One sign that you’ve made a horror classic- your film spawns a slew of imitators. Sometimes one or two of these imitators are witty, knowing and innovative. Thats what happened here. Jaws made such a splash (pun intended) that there were plenty of rip-offs. Piranha was one such film but was great on its own …

A film I know word for word as my brother and I were obsessed with it when we were growing up. A classic but a problematic one. The cop who flaunts the law and the rules to catch his prey. Hes proud of hating everyone and all groups (the character in this film and in …
Tales From The Crypt was released in 1972- a horror movie made up of five different tales of terror. One of these vignettes was '...And All Through The House' a Christmas based story regarding a woman who has just bumped off her hubby for his insurance. But she has more to content with...You can watch …
Its amazing the similarities between different sources I see in my research for this page. Here is a comparison I've made between Wes Craven's gritty masterpiece Last House on the Left (1972) and a women's self defence video called Rapist Beware! (1990). Another accolade that can be attached to the legacy of Wes Craven- his …
